Who says the Liberals were hoping for a quick election before the Gomery publication ban breaks? They've completely folded on the Kyoto-budget issue which was last week's "government about to fall" story.
I earlier criticized Paul Martin's feeble approach on the Kyoto Protocol, as evidenced by his government backing down from a plan to regulate automotive fuel efficiency. They now have a merely voluntary agreement with the manufacturers, but at least today they announced that a government committee will provide annual public reports on how well industry is living up to the deal.
Of course, that will all go out the window if Stephen Harper becomes Prime Minister later this year.
On the other hand, it could just as easily go out the window if Paul Martin remains Prime Minister for the next decade.
